Barraba is an award winning town situated on the Manilla River, in the heart of the Nandewar Ranges. 
The 1510 metre high Extinct Volcano, Mount Kaputar lies to the west, the Geological and  Fossicking area of the Peel Fault to the east, Great Fishing and Watersports at Splitrock Dam to the south, all combining to give the Barraba district a diverse range of activities.The rare and endangered Regent Honeyeater can be found in  the area as well as some of the most westerly Remnant Rainforest in the state. Agriculture lies at the heart of Barraba and the district has many award winning Cattle and Sheep studs.
